Work is due to start next week (from Monday 30 January) on a one-month project to replace the paving along the landward side of Alexandra Road in Cleethorpes.
This work will bring the paving in line with the rest of the improvement works in the resort that were completed pre-pandemic and will complement the work being done to restore the balconies and shop fronts along the same stretch.
The existing paving, in most cases, will be replaced with new natural York paving stone to match the rest of the paving in the main areas of the resort. The kerbing that was put in will remain in place. Additionally, surface water drainage for the properties will be improved at the same time.
There are two phases to this project in early 2023:
Phase 1: from the Baptist Church to Yarra Road.
Phase 2: from Albert Road to Dolphin Street.
Each phase will take approximately two weeks to complete. The works will start at the Baptist Church end and work northwards towards Dolphin Street.
While the works are in progress outside each phase, the parking bays adjacent will be suspended from use. Additionally, the pavement width will be restricted for pedestrians, and at times, pedestrians may be diverted to the other side of Alexandra Road. Both of these measures are to ensure there is a safe working area for the contractors. Access to properties and businesses may be affected for short periods of time.
The works are being funded by the Council supported by grant funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of the Townscape Heritage Project for Cleethorpes.
