Changes to parking in Wardall Street

ELEVEN temporary “one-hour free” parking spaces have been made available in Cleethorpes’ Wardall Street car park, until works to the vehicle bay area outside the NatWest Bank are complete.

The spaces have been created to help shoppers park and walk to nearby Sea View Street in the busy pre-Christmas period.

Final touches to the works are currently taking place at the lower end of Sea View Street, so contractors have moved to the upper end of the street to its junction with Alexandra Road. With this due to continue until mid-to-late December, North East Lincolnshire Council has made the one-hour free bays available in Wardall Street as a direct replacement for those temporarily out of use.

“While everyone appreciates that during such works there is disruption, we wanted to do all we could to help the businesses down Sea View Street. Providing these spaces in the nearby Wardall Street car park was one thing that we were able to sort out. Once complete, the works at the top of Sea View Street will significantly enhance the experience for everyone visiting this area,” said NELC’s deputy leader and head of regeneration, Councillor John Fenty.

Signs have been erected showing where the one-hour free spaces are and they will be available for motorists, on a ‘first come, first served’ basis until the permanent bays outside the NatWest are brought back into use.

As reported, the works will result in an enhanced street scene to complete its important historic character. With funding support from the Coastal Communities Fund, (CCF), similar works have been completed on High Street, with other improvements ongoing in the Sea Road area, funded through the council’s Local Transport Plan (LTP).
