Local hero Zane Powles has been recognised for his continuous efforts in supporting the community during the pandemic and his charity fundraising.
A civic reception took place on Thursday 20 August at Grimsby Town Hall thanking Mr Powles for all he has done over the last few months.
The Grimsby teacher walked for miles each day during the COVID-19 lockdown to make sure children still received their school meals while isolating at home.
Mr Powles hit the media locally, regionally, nationally, and even on an international scale, for his selfless actions to help others.
Most recently, he has cycled 1,300 miles raising money to support families in need in North East Lincolnshire.
Deputy Mayor of North East Lincolnshire, Councillor David Hasthorpe, along with Deputy Mayoress Mrs Sandra Hasthorpe met with Mr Powles at the civic reception, which also included the Leader of North East Lincolnshire Council, Councillor Philip Jackson, Chief Executive Rob Walsh and Councillor Ian Lindley, portfolio holder for children, education and young people.
The Deputy Mayor said: “I’d like to offer my sincere thanks to Mr Powles for all his efforts in supporting our community during the pandemic, as well as the amazing charity fundraising work he has done too.
“He thoroughly deserves all the recognition he receives after becoming a local hero to many people in North East Lincolnshire.”
