Could you help shape the future of our borough?

A multi-agency survey is being launched for people in North East Lincolnshire to have their say on the future of the borough.

North East Lincolnshire Council, Humberside Police, NHS North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group, Humberside Fire and Rescue, Lincolnshire Housing Partnership, Humberside Police and Crime Commissioner and Healthwatch NEL have come together to launch the Our Place, Our Future survey.

The survey covers many aspects of life in North East Lincolnshire, including health and wellbeing, community life, environment, economy and housing, crime and safety, and skills and learning.

The partnership of local organisations is seeking the views and opinions of local people to find out how it feels to live and work in our area, the services that you use and the activities that you do.

An extensive survey has been published, covering every aspect of living and working in the area.

The survey responses will help organisations to understand how they can work better to tackle challenges and make the most of opportunities.

The survey was last carried out in 2017 and various things were implemented as a result of the feedback. This included conducting a review of the council website, with a completely new site launching in September this year. A free Wi-Fi map was also created and published.

A ‘So Can You’ campaign was launched that used ‘people like me’ to share their stories and promote the jobs that they do and the journeys they have taken.

Dealing with drug-related crime and antisocial behaviour remains a top priority for all partners based on the 2017 survey results.

The Police and Crime Commissioner provides the Community Safety Partnership with a Crime Reduction Fund which has supported a number of ASB reduction projects based on the views given in the survey, such as youth activities via Ghetto Park, Fusion Boxing, Climb 4, Grimsby in Bloom and the YMCA. They have also supported projects to reduce homelessness through Harbour Place.

Partners are also working on a new project with the voluntary sector that aims to support people to use digital technology. Results are also being used to inform a current project about social isolation and loneliness which has become a bigger issue because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Participants will be in with the chance to bag some top prizes, including a night away in a hotel which includes a spa day for two, as well as a supercar driving experience, firefighter experience, a bike of your choosing to the value of £400 including a free first year’s service, a month’s free gym membership at a Lincs Inspire leisure centre, a season parking permit, a family pass to the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre and a £50 Love2Shop voucher.

Councillor Philip Jackson, Leader of North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “It’s really important that people have the chance to share their views and we are here to listen to them.

“I’d encourage as many people as possible to fill in the survey so that they can have their say on what matters to them, what affects them and how we can make North East Lincolnshire a better place for people to live, work and play.

“This survey is all about gathering the views of our residents so we can establish what they feel is working well, and what areas require improvement.”

The survey covers most aspects of life in North East Lincolnshire, but people can skip the bits that might not be relevant to them.

The Our Place, Our Future survey can be completed online at www.nelincs.gov.uk/have-your-say or over the phone, by calling (01472) 324380 to arrange a suitable time.

The information collected will be used to influence decisions to help create a better North East Lincolnshire.
