THE first visuals of what a key site in the heart of Cleethorpes could look like go on show today (November 27) at a public event in the resort.
The artist’s impressions depict a vision for the land that sweeps down Sea Road and around the corner onto Central Promenade – currently occupied by the old Waves Public House (Submarine), the adjacent toilet block and small kiosk.
This project is being supported with £1m from the Humber LEP’s Local Growth Fund. Open for viewing at the King’s Baptist Church on Alexandra Road, from 3pm until 7pm, people will be able to look at what a new development could look like.
The event will be followed by the final design draw-ups (subject to the planning process), with site demolition due early next year to allow construction work to begin. If approved, the build is likely to continue until late 2021, with external works to Sea Road itself and improvements to the public space of Pier Gardens to follow.
During the works, alternative toilet provision will be provided in the local area and the appropriate health and safety measures will be taken.
This work comes as part of the Cleethorpes Regeneration Programme which included major regeneration and heritage projects currently planned or underway in the resort, supported by central government’s Coastal Communities Fund, the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership.
