Update from our Park ward candidate

Update from our Park ward candidate

On May 6, you have the chance to shape the future of North East Lincolnshire by voting in the local election.

Here, Daniel Westcott, Conservative candidate for the Park ward, shares an update on what’s been happening in the ward…

  • A conversation with a local mum who raised concerns about the condition of several play areas in the ward. I suggested a number of parents could form their own group or work with an existing group to fund improvements, and I offered to help them along the way.
  • Fly-tipping reported and removed, and two residents are prepared to give witness statements.
  • Damage to People’s Park bandstand was reported to me. I contacted the Portfolio Holder responsible for parks, and the issue was addressed within 48 hours.
  • An online guest speaker slot has been arranged with Grimsby Institute, focussing on young people becoming more involved in the community and asking what they would like to see around the borough.

Daniel moderates the Park Ward Community Forum. He said: “Forum members are approaching me in the ward, recommending it to their friends and saying how reassuring it is to have a platform that local residents can really benefit from. All positive stuff, getting people talking, more willing to report problems, trusting something will be done, and bringing the community closer together.”
